The multi-award winning Kingfisher Bay Resort is a unique holiday destination nestled among World Heritage National Parks and the tree-covered dunes of Fraser Island, overlooking the waters of the Great Sandy Strait.

Designed to work in harmony with the landscape without impacting the natural environment, the Kingfisher Bay Resort is constructed of lightweight hardwood featuring curved corrugated steel roofing to mirror the rolling sand dunes. The pools, also inspired by the landscape, have been designed to represent the natural suspended lakes found on the island.

In keeping with the Resort's sustainability premise, an on-site nursery was established at the rear of the staff accommodation and maintenance facilities to grow and nurture endemic plants needed for initial project planting and future planting at the Resort. By not shipping plants over from the mainland, the local vegetation gene pool was protected from contamination.
