KEYSBOROUGH RESERVE PRECINCT MASTERPLAN & PAVILION
Guymer Bailey Architects were engaged by the City of Great Dandenong to masterplan the redevelopment of the Keysborough Reserve Precinct and propose a concept for a new consolidated Sports Pavilion.
The vision was to reinforce the Keysborough Sports Precinct as a central hub in the community, by bringing together existing sporting and social clubs which are made-up of variety of backgrounds and age groups into single unified space. This proposal brings the users together to a central Pavilion and Club that functions as a community gathering space, a sporting hub and administrative building that improves visual and social connections to the facilities.
Sports and physical activities are encouraged and promoted through cycling and pedestrian links, playgrounds and fitness pods. Shared zones and links between various sporting zones encourage interaction and engagement between all sporting groups, from youth sports groups to seniors, as well as puppy walkers or passers-by. The sporting zones are intended to be ‘multisport’ areas, suitable for a number of sports as needed, including basketball, futsal, tennis, netball and badminton. Current planting and landscaping is enhanced through regeneration of native flora, providing screening around the site.
