374 Gympie Rd, Strathpine QLD
Developing further the model of legibility & openness, the Pine Rivers Courthouse & Watchhouse Complex provides a facility that utilises views and natural light. This provides a connection to the landscape from each of the three Courtrooms, a concept which is continued into the staffed areas of the Watchhouse.
Environmentally, the complex features solar water heating, dual plumbing for the use of grey-water collected from the site, and screened manipulation of natural light throughout the building.
Aesthetically, the complex steps back from the density and randomness of Gympie Road, which establishes a generous public forecourt and a contrasting sense of simplicity through the composition of the building fabric. This contributes to the development of a sense of calmness when entering the complex.
