The founders of Guymer Bailey Architects, Tim Guymer and Ralph Bailey, were both well respected architectural practitioners in Queensland when Tim invited Ralph to join him in 1989 to form the company.
Tim had been a sole practitioner and Ralph a supervising architect in the Public Works Department. Both had maintained an academic involvement lecturing at the Queensland University of Technology.
Tim had established a reputation for innovative design with a special interest in timber as a material as well as construction technology.
Ralph similarly had established a reputation for institutional design and had a special interest in landscape architecture.
From its inception, Guymer Bailey Architects has been a design-based consultancy. We offer an exemplary service to our clients, and provide innovative design based on fundamental and timeless design principles.
In 2006 Paul Mathieson, Phil Jackson and Kavan Applegate, three long-standing senior employees of the company, bought majority shares on the retirement of Tim and Ralph, and are the current Directors of the company. Each new Director has established his own credentials as an architectural practitioner and and their leadership maintains our traditional client service and design quality, whilst meeting the new challenges of modern practice in an ever changing service delivery and technological environment.
Tim Guymer is now enjoying his retirement, and Ralph is providing an ongoing consultancy role to Guymer Bailey Architects.
